Emergency Medicine Milestones

On behalf of the ACGME, myself and the members of the Emergency Medicine Review Committee and Dr. Earl Reisdorff, Executive Director of the American Board of Emergency Medicine and their Board of Directors I am pleased to provide you with the Emergency Medicine Milestones. 

As I have mentioned, this document is the culmination of a tremendous amount of work by our Emergency Medicine colleagues (who are listed below) representing all of our stakeholder organizations under the stellar leadership of Dr. Mike Beeson. This work represents the cutting edge of the ACGME Milestone creation process in that it was guided by ABEM certification standards and their massive database. It also bears mentioning  that this document was created in an amazingly short time frame with our specialty being the first to complete data collection for a validation study.  I would also like to point out that it is being released on the date that was promised at the CORD Academic Assembly.

All in all, it represents the best attributes of our specialty and will help to more clearly define the training process for future generations of Emergency Medicine physicians.

I would ask that you distribute this to your membership immediately and feel free to post it on your website. In the next few days it will also be posted on the ACGME website along with an  E-Communication.
