All materials must be received by the due date specified for the award and should be forwarded as a single package of materials.  Please do not submit duplicate applications (i.e., via e-mail and fax).  Do await confirmation, so that you are certain we received your materials.  We will send confirmation by email within 2 business days of receiving each application.  Be sure to read the details for each award so that you send all the required materials.

Academic Excellence Award

Resident Opportunity - Application Deadline: March 15
Given to a resident who has done outstanding work in research or other academic pursuits.

Assistant Residency Director of the Year Award

Assistant Residency Director Opportunity - Application Deadline: March 15
This award recognizes an assistant or associate residency director who serves as a role model for residents and exemplifies those qualities residents value in a mentor.

CORD Faculty Development Scholarship

Senior Resident Opportunity - Application Deadline: January 3
Given to an individual who demonstrates a significant academic and scholarly interest in emergency medicine to attend the CORD Academic Assembly held in March each year.

Dedication Award

Resident Opportunity - Application Deadline: March 15
This award recognizes an EMRA member who has demonstrated significant dedication in promoting the goals and objectives of EMRA at local, state and national levels.

Dr. Alexandra Greene Medical Student Award

Medical Student Opportunity- Application Deadline: March 15
The Dr. Alexandra Greene Medical Student Award recognizes a student who displays a significant interest in emergency medicine.

EMRA Research Grant

Resident, Medical Student & Interest Group Opportunity - Application Deadline:  March 15th
This grant provides research funding to those interested in completing a research project during residency (or medical school).

EMRA Travel Scholarship to SAEM
Resident & Medical Student Opportunity - Application Deadline: March 15
This scholarship assists a resident or student member of EMRA in the costs associated with attendance of the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine annual meeting.  Up to three applicants may be chosen.
Jean Hollister EMS Award

Resident Opportunity - Application Deadline: March 15
Given to the resident who has made valuable contributions to prehospital care and emergency medical services.

Local Action Grants

Resident, Student, & Alumni Opportunity-Application Deadline: March 15
To promote the involvement of emergency medicine residents in community service and other activities that support the specialty of emergency medicine.

Residency Coordinator of the Year Award

Residency Coordinator Opportunity - Application Deadline: March 15
This award is given to the residency coordinator who regularly goes above and beyond the call of duty for the good of the program and its residents; supports resident endeavors in extracurricular activities like community service, research, etc.; and actively supports resident involvement in their specialty organizations.

Residency Director of the Year Award

Residency Director Opportunity - Application Deadline: March 15
This award recognizes a residency director who serves as a role model for residents and exemplifies those qualities residents value in a mentor.

Robert J. Doherty, MD, FACEP, EMF-ACEP Teaching Fellowship Scholarship

Open to physicians who have completed residency within the last 5 years or will graduate in the current year.- Application Deadline: March 15
The scholarship provides tuition for the EMF/ACEP Teaching Fellowship, an intensive course in faculty development.

This award honors a resident physician who demonstrates outstanding community-minded, grass-roots oriented political involvement in health policy or community issues.

Clinical Excellence Award

Resident Opportunity - Application Deadline: August 15
This award recognizes a resident who has done outstanding work in the clinical aspect of emergency medicine.

EMRA Mentorship Award

Alumni Member Opportunity - Application Deadline: August 15
This award recognizes an EMRA alumnus who has demonstrated exceptional service as a mentor for medical students and/or residents in Emergency Medicine. The dedicated recipient is an outstanding role model for future emergency physicians.

EMRA Travel Scholarship to Scientific Assembly

Resident & Student Member Opportunity - Application Deadline: August 15
This scholarship assists a resident or student member of EMRA in the costs associated with attendance of Scientific Assembly.  Up to three applicants may be chosen based on financial need and academic pursuit.

EMRA-ACEP Mini-Fellowship in Washington, DC

Resident and Fellow Opportunity - Application Deadline: July 15
The approved mini-fellowship provides a four week experience centered out of ACEP’s Washington, D.C. office. This is a intensive, short-term policy curriculum that will provide meaningful advocacy exposure.

Joseph F. Waeckerle Founder’s Award

Attending Physician Opportunity - Application Deadline: August 15
This award honors a physician who has made an extraordinary, lasting contribution to the success of EMRA.

Leadership Excellence Award

Resident Opportunity - Application Deadline: August 15
This award is presented to a resident who has demonstrated outstanding leadership ability.

Local Action Grants

Other Awards

Chair's Challenge/L&A Scholars Program

In December 2004, EMRA proposed the first “Chairperson’s Challenge,” requesting that emergency departments or divisions sponsor the travel and related expenses for a resident in their program to attend the ACEP Leadership and Advocacy Conference in Washington, DC, as part of the “EMRA L&A Scholars Program.”  Deadline:  March 15th

Clinical Pathologic Case Conference (CPC)

EMRA supports the CPC by presenting awards of $500 to the resident who is selected Best Presenter in the finals and $500 to the Best Discussant's program -- a total of $1,000. The preliminary competition is held during SAEM's Annual Meeting in the spring and the final competition is held at ACEP's Scientific Assembly in the fall. Click here for more information.

EMRA/EMF Resident Research Grant

EMRA makes a $5,000 annual contribution to EMF in support of resident research. The grants are administered through EMF. Click here for more information and grant applications. In addition, a $1,000 contribution is given to EMF in the name of the recipient of the Excellence in Teaching Award.
