Submit an Article for Publication in EM Resident
How can you become more involved with EMRA? Write an article for the EM Resident that’s how. The EM Resident magazine is the official publication of the Emergency Medicine Residents’ Association. It is published bi-monthly and sent to every EMRA member as a benefit of membership as well as other leaders in the field. - Oct 20 for Dec/Jan issue
- Dec 20 for Feb/Mar issue
- Feb 20 for Apr/May issue
- Apr 20 for Jun/Jul issue
- Jun 20 for Aug/Sep issue
- Aug 20 for Oct/Nov issue

Guidelines
- Article Lengths:
- EMRA Board Member Articles: 600-800 words
- Guest Columns: 800-1000 words.
Medical Student News: 750 words. Three articles are published in each issue. Articles are reviewed by the EM Resident Medical Student Section Editor and the Academic Affairs Representative prior to submission to the Editor. Medical Student News submissions send to the following emails:
- All other submissions please send directly to EM Resident Editor at emresidenteditor@emra.org
- Email article as an attachment in MS Word, text or RTF format.
- Include a concise headline for the article.
- Include your name and credentials (how you'd like it to appear on the byline), along with your affiliation including program or medical school, city and state.
- Authors should submit a digital headshot with their article as an attachment (not embedded in document or email). Please ensure that the format of the photo is within following guidelines (minimum file size of 900kb).
Acceptable Formats:
- JPG (300dpi; CMYK)
- PDF (press ready; CMYK)
- TIF (300dpi; CMYK)
- If including supporting digital pictures with article, please be sure to send as an attachment (not embedded in document or email). Include cutline for your pictures as well (names of persons in photo, description of photo, etc.)
By submitting an article to EM Resident for publishing, you agree to release all publication rights to EMRA. EMRA and/or Editor reserve the right to edit the article for publication. EMRA and/or Editor reserve the right to postpone publication of the article based on space available in the magazine.
