San Antonio Military Medical Center

The San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium (SAUSHEC) Emergency Medicine Residency Program is one of the nation's oldest and largest emergency medicine residency training programs.

The program began in 1977 at Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC), and in 1987 became a joint program with the Air Force program at Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center (WHASC).

This 3-year categorical program is based at the only level I trauma center in the U.S. Department of Defense and offers training with a diversified faculty providing the broadest exposure to EM practice, with about 50 full-time EM-trained faculty of whom 40% trained at outside institutions.
