EMRA Spotlight, Prehospital and Disaster Medicine Committee

Meet Sarayna McGuire, MD

We're pleased to introduce Sarayna McGuire, MD, chair-elect of the EMRA Prehospital & Disaster Medicine Committee, 2020-2021.

Sarayna McGuireProgram: Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education

Your goal as an EMRA leader: My goal is to facilitate opportunities for research, networking, and mentorship in the fields of prehospital and disaster medicine among medical students and residents. Because of my previous work as a military police officer, I also have a strong interest in tactical emergency medical services and would like to promote awareness of this niche field, as well as increase opportunities for exposure and mentorship within the TEMS community. Additionally, I hope to help other veterans translate their unique military backgrounds into passions in medicine.

What is something people don't know about you?
I once flew in an F-15 and was able to take over the controls once we reached altitude over Okinawa.

If I weren't an emergency physician I would be: A fighter pilot or a farmer

Last non-textbook I read: "Educated: A Memoir" by Tara Westover
