Parliamentarian

Description

  • The parliamentarian is a member skilled in parliamentary procedure.
  • He or she serves to advise the Speaker when requested, but has no authority to make rulings on Council matters. The parliamentarian will use Sturgis Rules of Parliamentary Procedure and the EMRA bylaws as reference.

Duties

  • Available to assist Council officers on Dias;
  • Keep track of procedures and motions that occur during the meeting;
  • Discreetly point out to officers incorrect procedures and potential parliamentary problems;
  • Suggest proper resolution of parliamentary issues.
