Along with Ben Smith, Jacob Avila founded 5minutesono.com a mere 5 years ago. Today he has taken ultrasound education to the next level with his latest project, the Core Ultrasound website, combining 5 Minute Sono, the Ultrasound Podcast and Ultrasound of the Week into one comprehensive site.
More than 200 applications were reviewed by the selection committee, comprising Chair Omar Maniya, MD, MBA, with Hannah Hughes, MD, MBA; RJ Sontag, MD; Venkat Subramanyam, MD; Erik Blutinger, MD, MSc; Sophia Spadafore, MD; Karina Sanchez, MD; and Jazmyn Shaw, MS-IV. Andreia Alexander, MD, PhD, MPH
After completing graduate research in health disparities in STI and HIV prevention, Andreia Alexander earned an MD/PhD in Health Behavior, focusing on sexual and reproductive health. Her focus has simply sharpened during her rise as an emergency physician in academic medicine, culminating in a $60,000 Changemakers in Family Planning award, recognizing her work in implementing patient-centered reproductive health options for vulnerable populations.
