Your goal as an EMRA leader: To bring great toxicology programing and resources to the great members of EMRA!

Why did you get involved in a professional society?
I wanted to meet like minded people outside of my program and to learn more about EM outside of the day to day. I specifically joined the toxicology committee because I love toxidromes and all things tox, especially disaster medicine toxicology!

What is something that people don't know about you?
I changed my major 12 different times in college before settling on nutrition but I still graduated in 8 semesters.

Your goal as an EMRA leader: To advance resident interest in and understanding of the acutely poisoned patient and serve as a representative of my awesome residency program.

Why get involved in a professional society? EMRA has advanced my career and abilities in EM. I wanted to be a part of such a great organization and hopefully create a positive impact for other toxicology-minded folks in the future.

What is the best advice you have ever received? The perfect job will still feel empty if you come back to an empty home.

What is something people don't know about you? I am horrendously color-blind.

If I weren't an emergency physician, I would be: A police officer or a train conductor

How many apps do you have on your phone? Technically 60 but probably only use about 20 of them

Your goal as an EMRA leader: My goal as an EMRA leader is to contribute to the amazing projects already in place and expand upon them for all residents. I can't wait to network with residents from around the country and learn as much as I can from them! I truly want to make emergency medicine the best specialty it can be!

Why did you get involved in a professional society? I got involved in EMRA to be able to network with residents from around the country. I also want to use my time in the society to build upon and improve projects that my predecessors have built. I also joined to have a lot of fun!
 
What is the best advice you have ever received? Failure to prepare is preparing to fail
 
What is something that people don't know about you? My family has a dog and cat rescue (Fido and Fluffy's Rescue). I also have 2 adopted cats who are FIV positive (cat HIV).
 
What's on your playlist? I love Spanish music, especially from the Caribbean!

Your goal as an EMRA leader: My goal is to be an exceptional role model for medical students and residents and to inspire curiosity and passion for toxicology in the emergency care setting.

What is the best advice you've ever received? Of all the things you can be in this world, be kind.

What is something that people don't know about you? I thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail in five months.
 
If you weren't an emergency physician, what would you be? National Geographic wildlife photographer

Favorite life hack for night shifts: I take power naps instead of split sleep or 8 hours of sleep at a time.

What's the last non-textbook you read? PSurvival of the Friendliest by Brian Hare and Vanessa Woods

Your goal as an EMRA leader: I want to be an advocate for the specialty, to continually be on the forefront of change within Emergency Medicine.

Why did you get involved with a professional society? I have had some amazing Emergency Medicine Mentors who have guided me and gotten me progressively more involved in Emergency Medicine, including professional societies.

What is the best advice you have ever recieved? What works for me, may or may not work for you. -NC

What is something people don't know about you? I used to speed skate competitively.

If I weren't an emergency physician, I would be: I would want to continue in paramedicine, hopefully in flight medicine. #whooshwhoosh

What's on your playlist? A ton of reggae. It's a nice contrast to an EM shift.
