2019-2020 Vice Chair of EMRA Health Policy Committee
2018-2019 Southeast Coordinator for the EMRA MSC
I am so grateful for the opportunities that my EMRA membership has provided. At face value, EMRA membership means access to an EMRA mentor, free emergency medicine conferences, EMRA Match, residency advice, and multiple EM publications. In my experience, it has offered so much more than that. It opened the door to understanding what it actually meant to be an EM physician, both in terms of the issues that EM physicians face and the skills necessary to excel in the field. Furthermore, EMRA provides opportunities to contribute to the specialty even as a med student. Through EMRA, I gained experience speaking at conferences, publishing articles, and coordinating medical student events. I know when I come back to my school and share advice from an EMRA conference that I am providing solid evidence-based advice to my colleagues. Above all, I have connected with a community of like-minded people who are passionate about creating a better future for practicing emergency medicine and have a vested interest in helping me achieve my career goals. EMRA membership is an incredible resource that gives students a leg up when applying for residency. If you are a student newly interested in emergency medicine, EMRA membership is undisputedly the way to go!

2019-2020 Southcentral Representative for the EMRA MSC
2019-2020 Diversity and Inclusion Committee Vice Chair
EMResident Articles
Being a part of EMRA has by far been the most fulfilling part of my medical education thus far. Initially I became a member so that I could explore and utilize the vast resources available to EMRA members. I quickly learned that EMRA was much more than just another professional organization. I have met so many amazing people that have truly become like a family to me. EMRA has provided me with a way to not only be involved during medical school, but to truly connect with other like minded individuals on a personal level. I have been most inspired by the leaders above me who have taken a vested interest in my growth as a future leader in emergency medicine. Along with the amazing #EMRAFamily I have gained, EMRA has provided me with invaluable resources like the antibiotic guide I can quickly access from an app on my phone to the student advising guide that provides info on successfully matching in EM. Whether you are an MSI or headed to residency, if you love emergency medicine then EMRA has something for you!

EMResident Articles
EMRA has played an immense role in my training to become a physician. With the guidance provided by EMRA, medical school became much easier to navigate. Through the countless resources that EMRA provides, I have become much more prepared to start my residency in Emergency Medicine. In addition to this, I have created many lasting friendships, connections, and memories through my involvement with various committees, such as the MSC. I am a better physician because of EMRA.
Rich Dowd, MS-III
Great Lakes Representative on the 2019-2020 EMRA MSC
EMRA's student-resident mentorship program has been invaluable in providing access to EM residents in my area who have recently navigated the application process and can provide the most current advice. Furthermore, EMRA provides a platform through which I've been able to share ideas and collaborate with fellow EM-interested medical students from all over the country. Not to mention the tangible resources provided, most notably the EMRA Antibiotic Guide, are more than worth the price of membership on their own.
